What Makes A Swedish Affair a Good Neighbor…
In 1984, a pair of newlyweds traveled throughout Sweden searching for unique and traditional handcrafts for a store they planned to open in Fort Myers, FL, in the fall of that year. Their brick and mortar store “A Swedish Affair, Inc.,” opened in November in Royal Palm Square featuring Swedish gifts of the highest quality, including wood handicrafts and crystal from Kosta Boda.
Over the years, they expanded the store to include Orrefors crystal, Danish paper cuts, books, jewelry, Christmas items (lots of “tomtar”), and a wide variety of Scandinavian food. A website was added in the 1990s to showcase and sell products worldwide.
Their physical store still operates in Royal Palm Square on Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. Not only will you find Scandinavian crafts, but you will also find many cards, Woodstock chimes, and Solmate socks. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
