Janette Munao was born in the Chicago area and moved at a young age with her family to Washington Island in Wisconsin, where her parents started a restaurant and marina. Though she loved her family’s business, Janette’s true passion was rooted in insurance.
“I’ve been in the health and life insurance industrysince 1992,” Janette said. “My first career in the insurance industry was working with a small company that started PPO’s. I worked on repricing medical and hospital claims and on developing doctor and hospital networks.”
In 1998, Informed Choice Insurance Agency opened in Green Bay, Wis. with the goal of simplifying complex health insurance options, like Medicare Health Plans, so people are able to choose plans that best meet their needs. Janette has been part of Informed Choice since its inception, rising the ranks to become National Sales Director and remaining dedicated to the mission of the company throughout her relocation to Florida. Janette also convinced her daughter, Andrea, to move to Florida and w
ork for the company. After a short period of learning the industry and the company mission, Andrea was sold on the career.
“Informed Choice makes it a mission to teach individuals and help them through the process, unlike some companies where sales positions involve ‘hitting quotas.’ I find working with clients so fulfilling,” Andrea said.
One of the things both Janette and Andrea fell in love with when they became involved with Informed Choice was the company’s mission.
“People get so stressed when trying to make sense of Medicare and all the options available to them in the market,” Janette said. “Informed Choice’s philosophy is to educate insurance consumers on the options available to them locally so they can make informed decisions about their healthcare. We also believe in providing exceptional service to our clients any time they need us.”
Exceptional service is a pillar of Informed Choice’s mission, and the team at this company continues to go above and beyond to ensure their clients are comfortable, secure and knowledgeable about their healthcare options. During the height of the healthcare season, the office even does something special to help spread happiness and comfort.
“During the Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare, which is our busiest and craziest season, we always have fresh-baked cookies in the office for our clients,” Janette said. “People started spreading the word that Informed Choice is the place to sign up for a plan and get a cookie. Word really got around about those cookies – we’ve had people stop by and tell us that they don’t need to change plans but ask if they could have a cookie anyway. Of course, we always say yes!”
For Janette and her team, nothing is more important than helping clients with navigating and understanding the healthcare insurance industry.
“I find nothing more satisfying than watching a client come through our doors feeling confused and overwhelmed and then watch them leave smiling, feeling relaxed and thankful for our assistance,” Janette said. “Our message for the community is to make sure that they shop for their health insurance with a local independent agent or agency to ensure that they are getting all of the information they need about plan differences, including any network restrictions.
